About Scott
Scott Hoffman is a futures broker, trader and educator. He has been in the futures business since 1986. Scott publishes two futures trading advisories, Swing Trader’s Insight and Trade or Fade, and is an in demand speaker and trading educator.
Scott received a bachelor’s in Economics from The University of Chicago in 1986. His futures career began on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Scott moved off the trading floor in 1987 to run a futures trade desk: Scott supervised phone clerks, and managed clients’ risks and positions. He served as the personal broker for William Mallers, Sr., a former chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade.
In 1989 Scott began as a futures educator, working with full service brokerage clients. Scott was one of the first subscribers to Linda Raschke’s trading advisory and education service. Scott learned the Taylor trading Technique from Linda. (See Scott’s blog post about the philosophy behind STI HERE.)
In 2001 Scott started publishing Swing Trader’s Insight, a futures trading advisory based on the Taylor Trading Technique.
In 2006 Scott worked with another trader to refine some of Linda Raschke’s breakout trading ideas. The results of this research were the Trade or Fade Service-pattern recognition for breakout setups and its proprietary calculations to determine entry and exit prices. Scott wrote about using these trading methods in his book HERE.
Scott has always deeply enjoyed education, analysis and research. He is passionate about sharing what he has learned with other traders, to help give them an edge in their trading. He is happy to discuss others’ trade ideas or analysis, to improve their trading as well as my own.
From Scott:
Trading can be a difficult business. There are many lessons to learn, and sometimes the tuition is high. I believe I can teach you some of these lessons without the tuition normally involved, both monetary and psychological.
I hope to create a community where other traders come to learn, teach, and discuss the markets to help us all reach our trading goals.
I look forward to working with you.
